Good idea, but wrong time

In reference to the Nov. 25 front page story, “County proposes funding for BNSF Eastside rail corridor,” here we go again and this time with a new county executive. We are in a severe budget crisis that has caused the laying off of county employees and cutting services, but yet our executive sends the council a $26 million proposal to purchase a rail corridor. Man does this sound familiar.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it would be a great thing to do, but in a different time and financial climate. Yea, I can hear the argument that it will be more expensive at a later date, but so will more employee layoffs and service cuts.

I am so glad I didn’t vote for our new executive.
