Cuba embargo is a mistake

Why on earth do we insist on this silly embargo, which has been in place for almost 50 years, on a small country like Cuba. Has it worked? NO.

Why on earth does the U.S. insist on repeating the same thing over and over again producing the same negative results. According to the president and Mrs. Clinton, the embargo will not be lifted until President Raul Castro’s government makes democratic reforms. No wonder we are hated all over the world by strutting our historic dominance.

However, to make Cuba feel better, we allow them legal immigration to the U.S. Now I ask you, do we really need any more people coming to our shores. We simply cannot afford it.

As another nasty byproduct, we are not allowed travel to Cuba. We are the only country with such a restriction. I guess it is also called democracy.

This move is even more disappointing, seeing Obama trotting along in his forerunners footsteps. Could one of the reasons for this embargo possibly be to win the approval of our very powerful Cuban-American’s voting block? Who is calling the shots here?

Isn’t it strange our government has no problem when it comes to China, a country which has no need to change their government to please ours. We all know the reasons, of course. Cuba unfortunately has nothing to offer us. A sad story in itself.

If we truly desire a democratic Cuba, let us stop this useless embargo. Help the Cubans live the life they deserve. Yes we can, and we must do it. Now.
