Forbes.com has ranked Washington as the third- most creative state in the nation based on number of patents issued per capita.
There were 4,158 patents issues to Washington residents during 2008, or 63.5 per capita.
Vermont led the nation with 514 patents or 82.7 per capita. Idaho was second.
