Sun Microsystems lays off 24 in Bellevue

Sun Microsystems cut 24 employees from its Bellevue office on Tuesday during a round of downsizing that affected 1,500 people in the company’s global workforce.

The California-based technology firm is in the midst of a restructuring phase that could include a total of up to 6,000 layoffs.

IBM is reportedly involved in discussions about a merger with Sun or an acquisition of the company.
