State, Bellevue retail sales increase in first quarter ‘15

The Washington State Department of Revenue reported that the state’s taxable sales grew to $29.7 billion in the first quarter of 2015, an increase of nine percent over the same period in 2014.

The Washington State Department of Revenue reported that the state’s taxable sales grew to $29.7 billion in the first quarter of 2015, an increase of nine percent over the same period in 2014.

In Bellevue, taxable retail sales increased 10.5 percent, coming in at $1.5 billion from Jan. 1 through March 31.

Bellevue’s retail sales growth mirrors the county as a whole, which also saw taxable sales rise 10.5 percent. King County saw the second largest increase in retail sale activity, second only to Clark County for the first quarter.

Overall, health and drug store sales, e-commerce and mail orders, and building and garden supply stores sales all grew by 16 to 20 percent, while mining, construction and real estate industries all saw first quarter gains as well.
