Karen Harris has been named Director of Education at the Martinez Foundation.

 

Karen Harris has been named Director of Education at the Martinez Foundation.

Harris has worked in the field of education for over 40 years, including K-12 public education in Boston and the greater Seattle area. With a Masters in school administration, she also enjoyed five years as a middle school administrator. For the past thirty years, Harris has worked in Teacher Education at the University of Washington College of Education, 20 of those years as the Coordinator of the Elementary Masters in Teaching Program.

The Martinez Foundation, launched in 2008 by Edgar and Holli Martinez, prepares and supports diverse and highly qualified teachers of color who are committed to closing the opportunity gap in Washington State by granting Masters in Teaching scholarships and providing support programs.
