Bellevue Economic Partnership welcomes employees to downtown

The Bellevue Economic Partnership welcomed more than 1,600 employees from Expedia Inc. and other businesses that were new to Downtown Bellevue in 2008 during “February Welcome Month.”

A culminating Merchant Appreciation event was held on March 19 at The Village in Bellevue. The event was catered by Mezza Café and Specialty’s Café & Bakery. Many Downtown Bellevue businesses were represented and thanked at the event while enjoying an evening of networking and music by a local high school string quartet from the Bellevue Youth Symphony Orchestra.

More than 60 Downtown merchants, including restaurants, retail, salons and fitness studios, offered exclusive offers and discounts to new employees throughout the one-month promotion. Several merchants saw a spike in customer traffic during February, characteristically a slow month for the retail and restaurant industries.

The Bellevue Economic Partnership facilitates a Welcome Month promotion each year. The 2010 Welcome Month will also occur February and will welcome over 4,600 new employees from Microsoft who will have moved into office spaces at The Bravern and City Center Plaza during 2009. Other new businesses to Downtown Bellevue in 2009 should contact Wayne Ottum from the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce at: 425.213.1213, or e-mail wottum@bellevuechamber.org.
