Bellevue business hopes to get a jump on things with trampoline facility

Jerry Raymond is use to kids bouncing off the walls. In fact, the owner of the newly opened Sky High Sports in Bellevue encourages it.

Located in a large facility at 1445 120th Ave. N.E., Sky High Sports includes five trampoline courts with designated areas for dodge ball, private events, tiny tots, adult Airobics and a court with a foam pit.

Each court includes a 360 degree trampoline wall and spring loaded frames with 2-inch-thick safety pads for a soft landing. The main trampoline court measures in at 140-square-feet by 52-square-feet, larger than an NBA basketball court.

“I wanted to open a facility on the Eastside because this is such a great area,” Raymond explained, who considers Bellevue just like home. “I knew it [Sky High Sports] would be a huge hit here.”

In 2006, Raymond and his brother, Ron, came up with the concept of Sky High Sports and began perfecting a year-long design process.

The brothers opened two locations in Santa Clara and Sacramento, Calif., and now a third location in Bellevue.

“We had this great idea, but we needed to create a design that would be both fun and safe,” Raymond said. “I think we nailed it.”

The Bellevue facility includes a conference room and designated area for parties and events.

“Of course this place was designed for kids, but it’s also great for adults who want to act like kids for an hour or two,” he said. “I can’t think of a better idea for a corporate event.”

Sky High Sports caters to all ages and stays open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Jumpers under the age of 18 are required to have a parent-signed waiver.

“Parents love this place because they can bring their kids here and sit back and relax while their kids let loose on the trampolines,” he said, laughing. “Trust me, after an hour of jumping from wall to wall, these kids leave worn out.”

A dining area includes extra seating and seven flat screen televisions with live feed of the trampoline courts for parents to watch their kids play. Each trampoline area includes a court supervisor at all times.
