Financial forum to discuss retirement

Two competing financial services professionals are teaming up at a public service forum March 3 to answer questions they say are bothering many people thinking about their retirement.

Gardner and his competitor Lucile Smith met at a Bellevue Chamber of Commerce event last fall where they compared their experiences and decided that many people were not planning properly because they lacked good information. Too many people, they decided, were too untrusting of financial professionals to provide them with unbiased information.

The forum will be from noon and 7 p.m. at the North Bellevue Community Center for two sessions with the public. “We’ll present what we think are common pitfalls and worries,” said Smith.

“We’re entitling the forum ‘Riding the Retirement Revolution,’” said Gardner, “because that’s what it feels like out there. We’ve had retirement funds shrink and most everybody is worried about outliving their savings or running up huge medical costs later in life. That’s real.”

The Bellevue Community Center is located at 4063 148th Ave. NE.
