The Bellevue Fire Department is seeking community input on priorities and the department’s services to help it shape its strategic plan. Answers will help determine how the the department allocates its resources.
Resident input will be collected in a survey offered in six languages.
The Bellevue department does more than fight fires and perform CPR, preparing the city for disasters and preventing fires through inspections among other things. Prioritizing services and investments is particularly important when a sluggish economy necessitates budget cuts, department officials say.
The strategic plan is typically updated every five years. The 2007-2012 strategic plan is accessible at http://www.bellevuewa.gov/pdf/Fire/Strategic_Plan_2007-2012.pdf. Details about the department are available http://www.bellevuewa.gov/fire_department.htm.
The strategic plan survey http://www.bellevuewa.gov/fire-department-survey.htm) will be available online through Jan. 29. In addition to English, the survey is available in Russian, Spanish, Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese.
