Bellevue’s Utilities and Transportation Departments were recently awarded the prestigious American Public Works Association (APWA) Re-Accreditation. The Bellevue departments are one of only four municipal agencies in Washington to receive the prestigious award.
The APWA Accreditation program recognizes public works agencies that go beyond the requirements of the management practices established nationally in the public works industry. On a daily basis, accredited agencies meet or exceed standards of performance in areas such as water, solid waste management, street/sewer repair and maintenance, engineering, building maintenance, storm water drainage, traffic safety, environmental services and vehicle maintenance. For Bellevue’s Re-Accreditation award, a team of public works professionals from British Columbia, Idaho and Missouri completed a thorough evaluation of operations during their November 2011 site visit.
The Bellevue Utilities and Transportation Re-Accreditation award will be presented by APWA Life-member, John Ostrowski, Retired Public Works Director, Vancouver, WA, to the departments’ staff on March 5 at 8 p.m. at 450 110th Avenue NE, Bellevue.
