Bellevue teens can learn leadership skills, identify youth priorities in the community and connect to volunteer opportunities with community service agencies at a conference on April 27 at City Hall.

At the Youth Involvement 2012 Conference, hosted by Bellevue Youth Link, the theme is “Stand Up, Speak Out, Break Thru.” From 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, April 27, Bellevue middle-school and high-school teens can attend workshops about a variety of topics such as technology, youth philanthropy, money management, high school and college life. Some sessions will be led by youth, and at the lunch hour, students will have the opportunity to meet with local elected and community leaders about their concerns.

Featured speakers include Chirag Ved, a Bellevue High School senior and CEO/founder of “Linking Opportunity” – an organization that connects high school students with volunteer opportunities – and Kevin Vu, Interlake High School senior and director of “Students Helping Students.”

These students’ organizations have been instrumental in helping Bellevue youth perform volunteer work here in Bellevue – and as far away as South Africa.

Registration must be received by April 18, and space is limited to the first 300 registered participants. Registration is available online at www.myparksandrecreation.com.
