Wolverines split tennis matches

Bellevue’s London Lee went 2-0 in singles play and 1-1 to help the Wolverines split against Bothell and Lake Washington Thursday at Bellevue High School.

Lee defeated Bothell’s Nicole Henderson 6-1, 6-2, but after teamining with Wendy Kung, was defeated by Henderson and AJ Otti 4-6, 6-1, (10-7) in doubles. Bothell won two out of the three doubles matches to seal a 5-4 win.

The Wolverines bounced back against Lake Washington, winning all three doubles matches after splitting the singles. Lee again won, beating Laura Renfroe 6-2, 6-1 and then teamed again with Kung to defeat Kelly Watanabe and Bryn Nelson 6-3, 6-4.

Paige Doyle and Laura Goesling also won two doubles matches for Bellevue, beating Bothell’s Devin Porter and Natalie Duhamel 6-3, 6-1 and knocking off Lake Washington’s Emily Smernis and Lauren Cairns 6-2, 7-6, (8-6).
