Washington Xtreme does well in tourney

Washington Xtreme 94 select, a fastpitch team with Eastside players, finished fifth out of 52 teams in the Triple Crown National Championships in Park City, Utah on July 14-19.

Washington Xtreme 94 select, a fastpitch team with Eastside players, finished fifth out of 52 teams in the Triple Crown National Championships in Park City, Utah on July 14-19.

The team was the last non-California team to be eliminated on the final day of the competition and was led by pitcher Emily Fleischman of Bellevue, who batted .597 and scored 10 runs during the tournament.

Washington Xtreme went 7-3 during the tournament, losing the opening game 8-6 to the California Franchise before shutting out their next four opponents while scoring 37 runs. After winning its next two games, Washington Xtreme lost to the California Thunder 12-7 in extra innings and was eliminated from the tournament with a 10-1 lost to the California Storm.

Next up is the ASA Western Nationals for the first-year U14 teams in Salem, Ore., this weekend.
