Sammamish goes to the brink to beat Bellevue | KingCo 3A soccer tournament

Sammamish’s Taylor Backous scored in the 85th minute to send the game to overtime where the Totems eventually beat Bellevue in penalty kicks to score a 2-1 win, eliminating the Wolverines from the postseason.

After two five minute overtime periods could not decide a winner, the game went to penalty kicks. Sammamish made all five of their tries, while Bellevue made just four of five.

Bellevue led nearly the entire game, as Mike Kunz scored off an assist from Ahmed Namrouti in the 15th minute.

The Wolverines end their season at 5-8-4. Sammamish (10-2-3) moves on to face Mercer Island (10-3-2) tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. on the island for the KingCo 3A Tournament title.
