Rodriguez leads Saints offense

Interlake Saints soccer player Jason Rodriguez has scored 22 goals thus far this season

Putting soccer balls in the back of the net with ferocious shots on goal has been a staple of Jason Rodriguez’s life ever since he put on shinguards as a kid.

Rodriguez, who has scored a team-high 22 goals this season, scored two goals in Interlake’s 2-1 victory against the Mercer Island Islanders in the Class 3A KingCo championship game. The Saints will host a yet to be determined opponent in the first round of the Class 3A state playoffs on May 20 in Bellevue. Rodriguez said the Saints are a special squad.

“I think we have a really good opportunity. We have really talented players and work totally as a team. We know each other very well,” Rodriguez said.
