Mount Si soccer strikes back in 3-2 win over Bellevue

The Bellevue girls soccer team had it out for Mount Si last season. Not only did the Wolverines defeat the Wildcats in both of its regular season meetings, but Bellevue also knocked Mount Si out of the playoffs with a 1-0 win in the KingCo 3A tournament.

Not only did the Wolverines defeat the Wildcats in both of its regular season meetings, but Bellevue also knocked Mount Si out of the playoffs with a 1-0 win in the KingCo 3A tournament.

So the Wildcats had plenty of motivation for revenge on Sept. 25 when the two teams met for the first time in 2008. And thanks to Hailey Conway’s late goal, the Wildcats broke their skid against Bellevue and hung on for a 3-2 win in Bellevue.

Stephanie Burk scored a pair of goals for Mount Si (3-2-3, 2-1-1), who had to rally from a 1-0 deficit after Amelia Notari opened up the scoring for Bellevue with a goal in the 18th minute.

Jessica Neiman knotted things up at two for Bellevue (2-3-4, 2-1-2) with a late goal in the 80th minute before Conway’s goal sealed the win for Mount Si.

Juanita 2

The Totems scored the first three goals of the game and then held on to defeat Juanita 3-2 in Kirkland.

Allie Buchwalter scored for Sammamish only one minute into the game. Anna Geldenhuys then scored back-to-back goals for the Totems (6-0-2 overall, 2-0-2 KingCo 3A). Karissa Radke and Candace Haghighi scored for the Rebels (1-5-2, 1-3-0).

Liberty 3, Interlake 1

Anna Freeman scored in the 37th-minute to break a 1-1 tie and Kimi Fry later added a penalty kick goal to help the Patriots knock off Interlake 3-1.

After Cassidy Nangle got the Patriots (3-1-3, 1-1-2) on the board in the 23rd-minute, Robyn Phanmeesai tied the game for Interlake (3-6-0, 0-5-0) with an unassisted goal.

Sept. 30

Newport 1, Roosevelt 0

Jessica Louw scored in the 39th minute to help Newport knock off the Roughriders 1-0 in Bellevue.

Aris Coover picked up the shutout for the Knights to help Newport improve to 4-3-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the KingCo 4A conference.

Sept. 29 games

Bellevue 4, Juanita 0

Elizabeth Menti scored two second-half goals as Bellevue defeated Juanita 4-0 on the road.

Paige Johnson and Caroline Whiting both scored goals to give Bellevue a 2-0 lead before Menti netted her two goals.

Mount Si 1, Interlake 0

Nikki Stanton scored the game’s only goal in the 12th minute as the Wildcats held off Interlake 1-0 in Snoqualmie.

Marika Loudenback picked up the shutout for Mount Si.

Cedar Park Christian 2, Forest Ridge 0

Nicollette Clark and Morgan Green both scored to help Cedar Park Christian to a 2-0 win over Forest Ridge.

Jenna Blanchard picked up the shutout for Cedar Park (5-2-0 overall, 4-2-0 Emerald City League). The loss leaves Forest Ridge (0-7-1, 0-7-0) still looking for its first win on the year.

University Prep 2, Bellevue Christian 1 (OT)

Anne De Vries scored in overtime to help University Prep escape with a 2-1 win over Bellevue Christian.

Clara Midgley scored in the 60th-minute to give the Pumas (4-4-0, 3-4-0) a 1-0 lead but Lauren Mortier tied it for the Vikings only five minutes later before De Vries’ 90th-minute goal won it for University Prep.

Bellevue Christian falls to 2-3-1 overall and 2-2-1 in league play with the loss.
