The Sammamish and Interlake High School softball teams are welcoming all Bellevue East Little Leaguers and all other little leaguers to come out to Sammamish High on April 28 for Little League day at the ballpark.

Sammamish coach Jessica Cabales called the event, which begins at 4:30 p.m. for the game between the Totems and Saints, an attempt to “create a marriage” between the two high schools and Bellevue East Little League, which feeds into Sammamish and Interlake.

“We want to get these kids out to the high school games and let them see the level of play in high school, getting them excited for where they are going to be,” Cabales said. “We are trying to get a community bridge in there instead of keeping it separate.”

Following the conclusion of the game, any little leaguers in attendance can attend a mentoring session with members of the two high school teams.
