Jackson, Skyline take team titles at Bellevue Invite

Jackson and Skyline won the team titles at Saturday's Bellevue Invite track meet.

Jackson and Skyline were the big winners Saturday at the Bellevue Invite at Bellevue High School.

The Jackson boys team scored 85.5 points, edging the Skyline boys for the team title. The Skyline girls dominated the meet, scoring 106 point, beating out Issaquah by 33.34 points for the girls title.

The Bellevue boys finished in 12th place with 28 points, while the girls finished in 16th for the highest team finishers by a Bellevue school. The Interlake girls finished in 18th with 17 points, only .5 points behind Bellevue.

Among the top individuals on the boys side were Markeem Adam of West Seattle, who won both the 100 meters and the 200 meters, and Kasen Williams of Skyline, who won the long jump and triple jumps.

Anthony Monahan of Bellevue was the highest area finisher, taking third in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.90.

Area boys finishers in the top-15 were Bellevue’s Peter Nguyen (11th in the 100 meters), Bruce Thomas (7th in the 400 meters), Michael Williams (7th in the 1,600 meters) and Will Fields (4th in the 110 meter hurdles and 7th in the 300 meter hurdles). Willy Gervais finished in fifth in the shotput and 11th in the discus for Bellevue and reigning state champion Robert Hintz took fifth in the Javelin.

Wesley Zhao finished in 10th for Interlake in the pole vault, while teammate Joe Ngamao finished in 15th in the shot. Robert Mueller finished in 14th in the 300 meter hurdles and 15th in the 110 hurdles for the Saints, while Anson Fredrick finished in 11th in the 200 meters and 14th in the 100 meters.

Interlake’s Litia Ngauamo was the highest girls area finisher, finishing fourth for Interlake in the shot put with a throw of 33-7. Teammate Brenda Agus finished 11th in the same event.

On the girls side, Montana Malarkey-Kessler finished in 11th place in the 200 meters and ninth in the 300 meter hurdles for Interlake, while McKayla Nunes took 12th for Bellevue in the same event. Casey Warendorf took sixth in the 800 meters for Bellevue, while teammate Emilie Gilbert finished in fourth in the 3200 meters with a time of 11:24.29. Katri Gilbert finished 10th in the same event.

The Bellevue girls 4×100 relay finished in eighth place and Gina Head valulted 8-06 in the pole vault to finish in a tie for second. Kristin Suzuki finished 10th in the triple jump.

Interlake’s Qiaoyi Zhang finished fifth in the high jump.
