Interlake loses heartbreaker to Roosevelt | Football Briefs

Interlake quarterback Matt Malos missed three quarters of play and Roosevelt kicked a 20-yard field goal to beat Interlake 17-15 in Bellevue.

Michael Bennett’s 20-yard field goal with 10 seconds remaining in the game gave Class 4A Roosevelt its second win of the season.

The Saints (0-2) kicked off the scoring when Matt Malos hit Dominic Jackson for a 5-yard touchdown pass. Roosevelt rallied for the next two scores in the second quarter – a 7-yard Peter Ianelli pass to Paul Gray and an 8-yard Jake DiJulio run – before the Saints scored in the third. Backup quarterback Trevor Lyon hit Kamana Adriano for a 10-yard score.

Garfield 24, Sammamish 22

Garfield rallied from a 16-0 deficit to beat Sammamish 24-22 and send the Totems to 0-2.

Chris Lider kicked a 42-yard field goal and Acie Black and Nick Myers each scored rushing touchdowns to help the Totems build the lead. Garfield’s Valentino Coleman scored to cut the lead to 17-7, but Black busted loose for a 50-yard run to make the lead 22-7.

Garfield scored 17 points in the fourth quarter for the win. The Bulldogs (1-1) blocked two Sammamish extra points during the game.
