Files earns coach of the year honors for stellar season

Newport Knights Head Coach Brad Files was named the Class 4A KingCo coach of the year. Files, who led the Newport Knights to a second place finish in the Class 4A state baseball tournament, finished the season with a sterling overall record of 23-3. Newport senior pitcher Todd Reese was named the KingCo 4A player of the year as well. Newport athletes earning first-team all-league KingCo honors included Reese (third base), Paul Wells (outfield), Ethan Paul (shortstop) and Ryan Kingma (pitcher). Newport players capturing second place all-league KingCo honors consisted of Vinny Guinasso (catcher), Alex Lambeau (second base), Jace Goforth (outfield) and AJ Block (pitcher).

Bellevue Parks to host a baseball camp this summer

Steve Goucher, who played professional baseball in the Atlanta Braves organization, is hosting an instructional baseball camp for players between eight and 13 years of age from June 29 through July 3 at Hidden Valley #2 field in Bellevue.
