The Wolverines couldn't be slowed by Lake Washington in another runaway win, while Newport lost for the first time, on the road to Issaquah.

Bellevue was once again dominant, leading 41-0 with more than six minutes on the second quarter clock and rolling to a 41-7 win over Lake Washington to push its record to 4-0.

The Wolverines face their first Class 3A team of the year next week in Juanita after playing two 4A teams to open the year and meeting KingCo’s only two 2A teams the past two weeks.

Newport was unable to stay undefeated, falling 48-28 to Issaquah on the road and moving to 3-1 overall and 0-1 in 4A KingCo Crown play.

The Eagles built a 48-14 lead on the arm of senior quarterback Jack Neary, who threw four scores, while running back Jack Gellatly ran in two of his own and caught one.

Sammamish hung tough with Mercer Island through most of the first half before falling 52-19 to the Islanders to fall to 0-4.

The Totems trailed 6-0 at the end of the first quarter, but scored the next two touchdowns to take a 13-9 lead. A Mercer Island led only 16-13 at half before opening up its margin in the third quarter.

Mount Si led Interlake 14-0 in the first quarter and won 34-0 in Snoqualmie to keep the Saints winless on the year.
