Bellevue took the team lead early in the tournament and would eventually end up battling Shorewood for the title during the finals. Each school had seven wrestlers in the finals and three of the final matches featured Bellevue-Shorewood match-ups.

The Wolverines sealed the tournament title with pins by Park and Ovens over Shorewood opponents. Park, Hudson, Ovens and Trull all won all of their matches by pinning their opponents. It was the first tournament titles for Hudson, Ovens and Small.

Trull’s title was his third-straight Shoreline Invitational championship. It took the senior just 14 seconds to pin his first opponent, Ricky Le of Shorewood. Trull then pinned Nicco Fortes of O’Dea in 3:22 in the semifinals before pinning Roman Jones of Roosevelt in 1:30 for the title.

Matt Casimes finished in second in the 119-pound weight class after losing to Shorewood’s Brandon Leach in the finals, while Andy Ewing finished second in 130, his first tournament placing. Ewing pinned his first opponent in 18 seconds, then beat Justin Phillips of O’Dea 13-9 in the seminfinals. He was pinned by Calvin Olds of Roosevelt in 1:27 in the final.
