VOLLEYBALL

Bulldogs earn seventh-place finish at NWAC championships

The Bellevue Bulldogs captured a seventh-place finish at the Northwest Athletic Conference championships on Nov. 20 in Tacoma. Bellevue went 2-2 at the NWAC tourney, registered victories against Spokane and North Idaho while suffering losses to Umpqua and Blue Mountain. The Bulldogs finished the 2016 season with an overall record of 36-10.

BASEBALL

Baseball camp is on the horizon for youthful baseball players on Eastside

Steve Goucher, who is a former professional baseball player and Atlanta Braves scout, will be conducting baseball clinics on Saturdays during December. The sessions, which are for baseball players between 7 and 14 years old, will take place from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $85 per player. For more information, call Nick Warren at 425-998-5795.

Wolverines grapplers place at tournament in West Seattle

Bellevue Wolverines senior wrestler Zach England earned first place in the 220-pound weight class at the Chief Sealth High School Invitational wrestling tournament on Dec. 3 in West Seattle. Alex Desyatnik (195) captured second place and Henry Hawblitzel nabbed a third place finish as well.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Wolverines are undefeated in early season action, earn victory against rival Mercer Island

The Bellevue Wolverines defeated the Mercer Island Islanders 44-42 in a nail-biter between rivals on Dec. 3. The Wolverines (3-0) will host the Redmond Mustangs at 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 9 in Bellevue.

Vikings defeat South Whidbey in earlly season matchup

The Bellevue Christian Vikings earned a 52-40 win against South Whidbey on Dec. 3. The Vikings (2-1) will host Seattle Christian at 8 p.m. on Dec. 13 at Bellevue Christian School in Bellevue.

Mercer Island dominates Sammamish

The Mercer Island Islanders cruised to a 66-45 win against the Sammamish Totems on Dec. 2. The Totems (0-2) will face Lake Washington at 8 p.m. on Dec. 9 in Kirkland.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Knights win season opener against Ballard in non-league game

The Newport Knights earned a 59-27 win against the Ballard Beavers in the season opener on Nov. 29. Newport (1-0) will host the Mount Si Wildcats at 7 p.m. on Dec. 9 in Factoria.

Vikings capture a victory against South Whidbey

The Bellevue Christian Vikings registered a 39-25 victory against South Whidbey on Dec. 3. The Vikings (3-0) will face Meridian at 7:15 p.m. on Dec. 9 in Bellingham.

Mercer Island earns win against Sammamish

The Mercer Island Islanders defeated the Sammamish Totems 69-33 on Dec. 2. The Totems (0-2) will face Lake Washington at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 9 in Kirkland.
