Bellevue boys in Northwest Invitational | Prep sports news

The Wolverines will take part in the tournament, which features teams from around the region

Bellevue has looked every bit the part of two-time defending state champion in posting a 5-0-0 record on the lacrosse field, and gets its chance to measure up against a pair of out-of-state foes at the Northwest Invitational Friday and Saturday.

The event, which features 18 teams from Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Nevada and British Columbia, has become a main attraction for prep lacrosse in the state.

The Wolverines, which beat Eastlake 11-3 Tuesday, face Claremont at 6 p.m. at Mercer Island High School before taking on Lakeridge (Oregon) Saturday at 8 p.m.

Other Washington teams in the event include Bainbridge, Issaquah, Eastlake, Skyline, Lake Washington and the hosts from Mercer Island.

Lakeridge (Lake Oswego, Ore.), Sunset (Portland, Ore.), Jesuit (Portland, Ore.), Southridge (Beaverton, Ore.), Coronado (Henderson, Nev.), Palo Verde (Las Vegas, Nev.), Centennial (Las Vegas, Nev.), Columbine (Littleton, Colo.), Claremont School (Victoria, B.C.) and New Westminster (B.C.) round out the field for this year’s event.

Each of the 18 teams made the playoffs in their respective state last year, and includes three state champions and three state runners-up.
