Winona Arlene Hutchison

Winona Arlene (Law) Hutchison

Winona Arlene (Law) Hutchison passed away quietly in the loving company of her only grandson, Christopher, on March 25, 2016 at the young age of 95.

Mom was born on December 11, 1920 in Eugene, Oregon, to Joseph E. and Willetta Gersbach Law. The family moved to Port Angeles when she was young. She grew up there and completed her education through high school. She then attended, and graduated from, Seattle Pacific College with a degree in teaching. Most of her 39 years of teaching were with the Seattle School District, both at Alki and Baily Gatzert elementary schools.

Mom enjoyed cooking, traveling, spending time at the family cabin, and rip and roll at Highland Covenant Church. Her other joy was taking care of Christopher, her only grandchild, for the first six years of his life, and establishing a deep and loving bond. She helped strengthen that bond by sharing her love of ice cream and See’s chocolate with him.

Mom and dad were married in 1951 in Bellevue, where they made their home. They lived in Bellevue until Dad, or Delbert, passed away in 2006.

Mom is survived by her younger sister, Venta Wicker of Moscow, Idaho; Marcia Lalonde (Randy); Christopher (grandson), and daughter Robin Hutchison and a number of other family members.

A memorial service will be held on June 4th at Highland Covenant Church, at 2PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Medic One of Bellevue or to a charity of your choice.
