Sigrid Helen Doran was born in Bellingham, Washington on June 6, 1950. She attended schools in Bellingham and Ferndale, WA and graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a degree in Elementary Education in 1971 and completed her Masters in Education in 1974. She began her career in the Bremerton, WA Public Schools. She then moved to Bellevue Public Schools in August 1972 teaching kindergarten at Ardmore Elementary. Sigrid taught at Bellewood, Hillaire, Sunset, Medina and retired in June 2005 from Clyde Hill Elementary after 27 years as a kindergarten teacher. She loved her kindergarten children as her own and wanted to give each child every opportunity to succeed. Sigrid was very active in the PTA and mentored new aspiring student teachers in the field of education. Sigrid was always generous with her time and skills and shared many ideas with her fellow teachers as well as sitting on many district committees and curriculum task forces. She was also a loving mother and doting grandmother working part time during her children’s early years to give them a nurturing start in life.Her parents, Floyd and Edna Coffelt preceded her in death and she is survived by three children, Dena Stoll of St. Paul, Minnesota and her husband Matt, Rosanne Landon, Mark Landon and grandson, Johnathan Landon all of Bellevue, WA. Services will be private.A Celebration of Life for Sigrid will take place on Sunday, February 15, 2009 from 3-5 PM at Maggiano’s Little Italy Restaurant: 10455 NE 8th, Bellevue, WA 98004. Please come and share fond memories of her life as a beloved teacher and friend.
