Isabelle Moe

Isabelle Moe

After a brief decline, Isabelle Moe passed away quietly in her home surrounded by loved ones on May 29, 2010 at the age of 90.She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Moe. Isabelle leaves behind hundreds of avid horse and pony lovers who knew her as a judge, fellow competitor, leader of the Drivers and Riders 4-H Club, horse/pony driving instructor, and lover of equines. After a distinguished tour of duty during World War II in the Navy, Isabelle worked as a school teacher where she was nationally recognized for her unique approach to the education of children with behavioral challenges. A life-long horsewoman, Isabelle showed Morgans and Tennessee Walking Horses, and in her retirement raised, rescued and trained remarkable ponies. She is survived by ponies Holo II, Miranda, Mr. B, Corky, Mocha and Sundance, all of whom have served generations of children. Isabelle’s only surviving family are her sister Mary Jane Thompson and nieces Elizabeth Clark, Katherine Justus and Sharon Robb, three grand-nieces and one grand-nephew. A memorial party will be announced later this summer and everyone who knew her is invited. Memorial gifts can be made to the White River Valley Museum, to support children’s educational programs at the Mary Olson Farm.
