Update: Yummy Box has since reopened with a food permit from King County.

Local mobile food establishment Yummy Box Food Truck was closed by health inspectors on Oct. 3 for operating without a food permit.

The food truck was located by health inspectors at 114th Avenue Southeast and Southeast 8th Street in Bellevue, where inspectors with Public Health of Seattle and King County found that the truck did not have a valid food business permit in King County.

Yummy Box travels and serves cutomers throughout the Eastside and Seattle, according to their website and Facebook page. Their Facebook appears to have been started in September 2014, but no inspections records for the truck could be found in the public health food safety inspections database during that time period.

Business owner Jack Hsue said that the closure came from a misunderstanding that he is currently remedying. The truck has a valid food permit in another county, but Hsue did not realize that he needed a King County permit to serve food in the area.

“We have health permit from Snohomish county. Not knowing the Washington health departments have different fundings, a separate permit is required. We are [in] the process of getting a permit from King County,” he said.

The truck can reopen once a health inspector confirms that a food permit has been successfully acquired.
