Wiest leads in race for Bellevue Schools Director District No. 5

Bellevue school board race results.

Only one of the Bellevue School Board seats were contested, and in that race, Francine Wiest leads Jane Aras in a preliminary count.

King County Elections released election results at 8 p.m., Nov. 5. Of 76,528 registered voters, 17,986 returned their ballots.

Four Bellevue school board positions were up for grabs.

For Pos. 5, Wiest garnered 59.92 percent (9,230) of the vote, while Aras received 39.68 percent (6,112) of the vote, according to preliminary results.

For Pos. 1, Sima Sarrafan, who ran unopposed, garnered 98.61 percent (11,432) of the vote, according to preliminary results.

For Pos. 2, Carolyn Watson, who ran unopposed, garnered 98.79 percent (11,416) of the vote, according to preliminary results.

For Pos. 4, Christine Chew, who ran unopposed, garnered 98.58 percent (11,421) of the vote, according to preliminary results.

Ballots were due to King County by 8 p.m. Tuesday. Early election results began coming in at 8:15 p.m. Final results will become official on Nov. 26.
