Volunteers are being sought to help pack 100,000 meals to be distributed at refugee camps, orphanages, schools, and malnourishment centers in nearly 70 countries around the world.

The event, called a MobilePack, will be held at Chinook Middle School through an organization called Feed My Starving Children. FMSC will be sending a truck with all the bulk ingredients and packing equipment for volunteers to pack the 100,000 meals.

The goal of the event is to rally 500 volunteers from the community and raise $19,000 to pay for the cost of the food.  Children five years old and older can and are encouraged to volunteer. The event is described as being fun, fast paced and with family friendly music.

There will be three 2-hour shifts Oct. 9 and participants can sign up for any or all of them.

Donating to the cause also is encouraged with the cost to provide a meal at only 19 cents.

Organizers note that during the economic slump world aid has been nearly cut in half. To donate or volunteer visit www.fmsc.org/bellevuefillandfeed.
