Update on Bellevue road closures and other street work | Aug. 9

The latest updates on what roads are closed or restricted in Bellevue.

Road Closures

  • 98th Avenue NE, NE 18th Street to NE 21st Street: Crews will be installing new utilities as part of the Chinook Middle School renovations requiring a complete closure of this stretch of 98th Avenue daily from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., starting Mon., Aug. 12 through Aug. 26.
  • 112th Avenue NE, NE 24th to SR 520: The state Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will be installing a fish culvert that crosses under 112th Ave NE and SR 520. 112th Ave NE will be temporarily redesigned for southbound traffic only through late August. Signed detours will redirect northbound traffic to Bellevue Way via NE 12th Street as neither bicycles or cars will be permitted through going northbound. Business traffic will be maintained throughout construction. Also, WSDOT is planning several nighttime and weekend full closures of 112th Ave NE.

Lane Closures

  • 120th Avenue NE, NE Fourth Street to NE Eighth Street: Drivers should expect delays due to traffic restricted to one lane in each direction and shifted over to the east lanes. Work hours will be 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. Flaggers are in place assisting traffic.
  • 150th Avenue SE at SE Newport Way: Crews are replacing the intersection traffic signal system through August. Drivers should expect delays from closures of the northbound and the eastbound curb lanes weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Coal Creek Parkway between Forest Drive and SE 60th Street: Construction of a bridge is underway. Drivers should expect a two-lane closure on the west half of the roadway between Forest Drive and Southeast 60th Street with one lane open in each direction. The closure will remain in effect 24 hours a day as the west half of the bridge is constructed until the end of November 2013 when Phase 1 of construction will be completed. Traffic delays and congestion are expected, especially during morning and evening commutes, and drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes. A second phase of construction will take place in 2014, from mid-April through September.
  • West Lake Sammamish Pkwy. SE, I-90 roundabout to SE 34th Street: A detour of all southbound vehicular traffic from 18000 block (the French Immersion School) to SE 34th Street and will last approximately 8 months. The detour redirects traffic onto SE 34th Street. Northbound traffic is permitted but drivers should expect significant delays. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays for the next several weeks. Using alternate routes is strongly recommended.

2013 Overlay Program

Crews will be adjusting utilities and installing markings on streets that have recently been paved in various locations throughout Bellevue. Expect lane closures and delays.

  • Northup Way, 164th Avenue NE to NE Eighth Street: Daytime roaming lane closures down to one lane with alternating two-way traffic, Mon.-Wed., Aug. 11-14.
  • NE 20th Street, 140th Avenue NE to 148th Avenue NE: Traffic will be down to one lane each direction, Tue., Aug. 13, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Wed. and Thur., Aug. 14-15, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., for paving and c-curb work.

Commercial development and private utility work

Drivers and pedestrians should anticipate periodic lane and/or sidewalk closures and delays at these locations:

  • NE Second Place and NE Third Place between 110th & 111th avenues NE (Marriott Hotel): NE Second Place will be restricted to eastbound-only traffic and NE Third Place will be restricted to westbound-only traffic 24/7 starting Mon., Aug. 12, through October.
  • 106th Avenue NE, NE Second Street to NE Fourth Street (Soma Towers): Building construction. Expect possible daytime lane closures.
  • NE 12th Street, 110th Avenue NE to 112th Avenue NE (Park Metro Apartments): Building construction. Expect eastbound lane closures. The sidewalk is currently closed.
