Prolific Bellevue storage unit burglars caught in the act

Bellevue Police arrested three men last weekend who were allegedly in the act of breaking into a storage facility.

Renton resident Ronald Hebert, Kent resident Chris Brundage and Redmond resident Matthew Ulmer were arrested in the early morning on Oct. 29. Police had responded to an alarm at a Public Storage facility at 12465 Northup Way in Bellevue. The business had been targeted by thieves numerous times over the past several months, and the apprehended men are likely prolific burglars who had targeted the units before, according to police.

A male suspect, later identified as Hebert, 52, ran away when confronted by officers. Bellevue Police K9 Ozzy pursued Hebert and found him in some nearby bushes.

Shortly afterwards, Brundage, 47, surrendered to officers as he was leaving the facility. Ab air-soft pistol was found on his person at the time of his arrest. Ulmer, 35, was found hiding in a vacant storage unit in the facility.

The suspects had reportedly removed property from several storage units by the time police arrived. The rightful owners were notified.

The three suspects are expected to be charged with second degree burglary, though additional charges are possible. Investigators are also looking for additional suspects.
