Bellevue wraps up undefeated season with 3A state title.

Bellevue High’s football squad completed an undefeated season by winning the 3A state championship with a 17-13 triumph over Kennewick High on Dec. 4 at Sparks Stadium in Puyallup.

Wolverines William Wang scored two touchdowns on runs of 2 yards and 64 yards and Wiley Bryant knocked in a 21-yard field goal and two PATs.

After a scoreless first quarter, top-ranked Bellevue (14-0) bolted out to a 10-0 lead over sixth-ranked Kennewick (12-2) with Wang’s 2-yarder and Bryant’s field goal with 2:43 left in the second quarter. Kennewick closed the gap to 10-7 on a Myles Mayovsky 2-yard scoring run and Zaydel Capetillo PAT with 44 seconds remaining in the first half.

Wang increased Bellevue’s lead to 17-7 with his mammoth run with four minutes remaining in the third quarter. Kennewick answered about two minutes later with a Mayovsky 67-yard scoring reception from Dayton Davis; the two-point pass failed.

Wang ran the ball 34 times for 245 yards; Blake Teets had 56 yards on nine carries; and Ishaan Daniels had 68 yards on seven totes.

On defense, George Kruger had nine total tackles, Jasper Svenson and Isaiah Hennessy had 7.5 each, and Landon Johnson had seven. Kolani Masunu had one sack, Colin Miller had two interceptions and Daniels had one pick.

BELLEVUE HIGH ALL-LEAGUERS

On the all-KingCo front, Daniels is the offensive MVP and Kruger is the defensive MVP; Michael Kneip is the coach of the year; and Peter Netelenbos is the lineman of the year.

First-teamers are Netelenbos (offense, center), Collin Backer (offense, guard), Elliott Hamilton (offense, tackle), Wang (offense, running back), Daniels (offense, running back; defense, corner), Hogan Hansen (offense, tight end), Tom Nash (defense, defensive line), Masunu (defense, defensive line), Kruger (defense, inside linebacker) and Svenson (defense, outside linebacker).

JC Van Appledorn is a second-team offense tackle.

Honorable mentions are: Johnson, linebacker; Leo Ryals, outside linebacker; Lucas Razore, quarterback; and Teets, running back.
