Seahawk Chris Matthews and his two brothers joined Jermaine Kearse, K.J. Wright, B.J. Daniels, Kevin Smith and more played in the Chris Matthews 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament and charity auction on Saturday, July 11.

Eight teams of participants high school-age or above battled for the championship title and bragging rights. Local competitors “Tim’s Team” emerged from the pack to take on the Matthews brothers, who lost in the final seconds of the game.

On Sunday, July 12, Mariner Fernando Rodney, former Mariner Jeff Cirillo, former New Orleans Saint Reggie Jones, Bachelorette star Desiree Hartsock and husband Chris Siegfried, Bachelor star Jason Mesnick, and star of The Voice, Mycle Wastman, competed in the Fernando Rodney Softball Game and charity auction.

Mycle Wastman performed the National Anthem and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Bellevue’s “Youth of the Year” Kaitlyn Nutting was selected to throw out the first pitch.

The events were topped off with a silent auction featuring cleats worn and autographed by Marshawn Lynch, a jersey autographed by Felix Hernandez and a bat autographed by Albert Pujols, along with other sports-related items.

Proceeds from both events benefitted the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue and its Be Great Bellevue campaign to raise funds to build a new clubhouse in Bellevue.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue was established in 1952. Currently the organization has 12 sites throughout the City of Bellevue and serves children 2 and a half to 19 years of age.

Altogether, the charity event raised $10,000.
