The district covers Mercer Island and Newcastle as well as some parts of Bellevue, Sammamish, Renton and Issaquah.

Tana Senn (D), a state representative currently holding Position 1 for the district, is the only candidate running for the seat. She first assumed office in the fall of 2013, succeeding Marcie Maxwell.

For Position 2, Al Rosenthal (R), Aaron Leedham (D), Harlan Gallinger (I) and incumbent My-Linh Thai (D) are in the running. Mike Nykreim (R) and incumbent Lisa Wellman (D) are running for state senator.

The primary election is set for Aug. 3, with the general election scheduled for Nov. 3. The top two candidates in each race during the primaries will move on to the November election.

The candidate filing period for King County began May 11 and ended May 15. The last day to withdraw from the election was May 18.
