Luther White, coordinator of Hopelink’s food bank, practices karate at the Koshin-ha Chito-ryu dojo in Bellevue. When he mentioned the current shortage of food donations to his fellow students, they immediately organized a food drive.

Within a week they had collected more than 275 pounds of food, enough to feed 25 families, and their teacher, Dr. Keith Dipboye, matched the cost of the food. Another local dojo, True Martial Arts, collected more 900 pounds of food for Hopelink during the month of October.
