The second annual Acura of Bellevue Four on the 4th Dog Jog and Walk is seeking nominations for the 2014 Grand Doggie Marshal. The non-competitive 4-kilometer dog jog and walk, produced by the Bellevue Downtown Association, will start sat 9 a.m. July 4 in Ashwood Park (adjacent to the Bellevue Regional Library, 1111 110th Ave. N.E.).

Dog owners who believe their furry-friend deserves to be honored and has what it takes to represent Downtown Bellevue are encouraged to nominate their four-legged friend to lead this year’s jog and walk.

Grand Doggie Marshal official duties:

  • Start the jog and walk.
  • Take part in the Grand Doggie Marshal Ceremony.

Nominations should be submitted to the Acura of Bellevue Four on the 4th Dog Jog and Walk Facebook event page with a brief doggie bio. Information should include name, breed, age and why the dog should be Grand Doggie Marshal.

The nominating period is open through noon on June 20 and voting will take place via Facebook poll from June 20-27, 2014. The Grand Doggie Marshal will be announced shortly after the Facebook poll closes.

Those participating in the dog jog/walk may register online at BellevueDowntown.com. A portion of the registration fee will benefit the Bellevue-based Seattle Humane Society.

Early registration through July 2 is $25 (per person), or registration on July 4 is $30 (per person). A registration fee of $60 is available for families with four to eight people. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. on July 4 in Ashwood Park.

Post jog-and-walk festivities in Ashwood Park will feature a dog costume contest, a kids bouncy zone, and Seattle Humane’s MaxMobile, a 38-foot bright yellow bus full of adoptable animals. Shawn Stewart of KIRO 97.3 FM’s “It’s Raining Cats and Dogs” will be the master of ceremonies.

Free parking will be available at the Bellevue Regional Library parking garage. More information is available online.
