A partnership between the Robert Vasen Foundation and Boys & Girls Club of Bellevue will be celebrated with a luncheon in Seattle on Friday at Qwest Field.

The partnership, “Be Great, Graduate!”, mentors at-risk teens, guiding them to high school graduation and beyond.

It is the latest of programs supported by the foundation to honor the memory of Robert Vasen, a 20-year-old UW student who, on an evening in March 2006, was riding with friends to a downtown Bellevue restaurant when a drunk driver slammed into their car, killing Robert

The foundation was founded to help young people. Today, Boys and Girls Club staff monitor students throughout their high school years, offering any help needed from transportation to snacks to tutoring.

The foundation also funds counseling for youth affected by alcohol or drug abuse in their home, sponsors Sounders FC soccer camp scholarships for children who could not otherwise attend and supports an endowment at Children’s Hospital, where Robert was a volunteer. All funds raised by the foundation go directly to these youth initiatives.

The luncheon is sponsored by the Seattle Sounders, Virginia Mason Medical Center, and Washington Dental Service.

Registration for the luncheon can be made at www.RobertVasen.com/foundation/luncheon.
