Bellevue’s International School has received a grant to help kids adopt lifelong healthy choices.

ING Financial Services awarded 59 grants nationwide under its Run For Something Better initiative.

International School will receive $1,000 immediately, to be increased up to $2,500 depending on participation in an eight-week running program. The program will culminate in the school’s Mad Max run, a nearly five-mile run open to parents, teachers and students, PE teacher Judy Temple said.

“(Our) students often run over 100 miles a year,” Temple said, noting that parents provide permission for their kids to run off campus. “Students utilize both Kelsey Creek and Wilburton Park Trails for many of the runs, usually one to three miles each class.”

The Mad Max run will be held Nov. 19, starting at the International School campus near Wilburton Hill Park.
