A Washington state employee in Bellevue is among 26 state government managers honored for their leadership skills this year by Gov. Chris Gregoire.

Receiving the Governor’s Award for Leadership in Management is Kim Henry of the Washington State Department of Transportation. Henry is heading up projects that are addressing congestion chokepoints on the interstate.

The program recognizes managers in state government who have demonstrated outstanding leadership.

“These leaders are being recognized because they have accomplished great things for the state,” said Gregoire. “Not only have they demonstrated real results with their work but they understand the importance of delivering exceptional service to all Washingtonians. I am inspired by their dedication to public service.”

Recipients attended an awards luncheon at the Executive Mansion on Tuesday, June 17. Managers were nominated by their agencies and selected based on their high performance and ability to deliver results. A selection committee comprising agency directors and members of Gregoire’s staff selected the winners from a pool of 46 managers nominated from 20 agencies.
