Committee of the Whole, councilmembers:

· Received a briefing on the preliminary Animal Services Consultant Report (Briefing No. 2008-B0056). The briefing was from the consultant working on the report, Nathan Winograd, director of the national No Kill Advocacy Center of San Clemente, Calif.

Council meeting, councilmembers:

· Approved an ordinance transferring $426,000 from the defunct Seattle Monorail Project to the County for transit improvements along the Ballard-to-West Seattle corridor (Ordinance 2008-0106). The funds will be available to Metro Transit for the operation, maintenance, capital repair, overhaul, refurbishment, or improvement of transportation facilities along the Ballard-to-West Seattle corridor formerly designated as SMP’s “Green Line.”

Council meeting, councilmembers:

· Declared the month of March Women’s History month in King County.

· Approved an ordinance transferring a 30-acre parcel within Soaring Eagle Park to the city of Sammamish. The city plans to use a portion of the parcel for athletic fields (Substitute Ordinance 2007-0353.2). The agreement reached by the County and the city of Sammamish allows for development of playfields, while preserving the majority of the 628-acre park as passive recreational land and open space.
