Fashion, music to highlight medical research fundraiser

Elegant clothing by famous designer Oscar de la Renta and Grammy Award-Winning Artist Steve Tyrell equals a magical event leading up to an even more memorable evening.

Nordstrom in downtown Seattle recently hosted a special viewing of the Oscar de la Renta Spring 2009 Collection in support of the upcoming Make the Evening Matter, an event benefiting the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and the Entertainment Industry Foundation’s National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance. At the trunk show, guests were greeted by champagne and hors d’oeuvres while getting a sneak peak at the 2009 collection including an edgy color-blocked and belted maillot, floral print strapless gown and luxurious swoon-worthy fabrics.

Jazz artist Tyrell was in attendance, mingling with guests and supporters. He will perform on Feb. 19 at The Triple Door in Seattle for the Make the Evening Matter fundraiser event. The special night is in loving memory of Tyrell’s wife, Stephanie, who died from colorectal cancer in 2003.

Along with his three children, Tyrell and his swinging band will be joined by honorary chairperson Katie Couric for a night of entertainment and fine dining provided by Wild Ginger restaurant. Couric lost her husband, Jay Monahan, to colon cancer and has since dedicated her time and energy in support of this event.

The evening begins with a VIP reception followed by a gourmet dinner and limited live auction. Tickets cost $250 per person and can be purchased by contacting Robin Winstead at 206.852.4285.
