Expedia launches travel site for gays

Bellevue-based Expedia announced today that it has started a new web site catering to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) travelers.

The internet-based online travel agency says it developed the site in partnership with the International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association to include 10 domestic and five international destinations with gay-friendly hotels, events, festivals and hotspots.

Seattle is not listed among the gay-friendly destinations in North America.

Expedia says 500 of its partner hotels currently match the definition of “LGBT-welcoming.”
