A construction worker died at Bellevue College this morning after falling from the fourth floor of the campus’ health sciences building.

Police say the 31-year-old man working on the fourth floor of the health sciences building that’s under construction around 10:30 a.m., and fell about 50 feet to the ground below when he was unable to move from a ladder to the floor. The building had not been framed in, said Bellevue Police Ofc. Seth Tyler.

The man was declared dead shortly after paramedics arrived on the scene and construction has stopped to allow police and the state Department of Labor and Industries to conduct their investigation. L&I will look into what safety restraints were being used on the site, and if they were being used properly, Tyler said.
