Boating classes offered

The Bellevue Sail & Power Squadron will offer a number of boating classes on the Eastside.

Two classes will be taught for new boaters. Everyone passing the final test of the courses can obtain the Washington State Boater’s Card.

A seven-week America’s Boating Course will be held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday Sept. 19 at Lake Hills Elementary School, 14310 SE 12th St., Bellevue.Cost for the class is $85.

Also, two all-day classes will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on both Saturday, Sept. 28 and Saturday, Oct. 12.Cost for the Sept. 28 class is $45; cost for the Oct. 12 class is $75. Location and details are available at http://www.bellevuepowersquadron.org/Education.

In addition, the organization will offer a number of advanced classes and electives, including classes in sail, piloting, weather, junior navigation, and skipper saver. Details are available at http://www.bellevuepowersquadron.org/Education.

Several two-hour seminars, taught by experienced, certified instructors, also will be offered from 6-8 p.m. at Bellevue West Marine, 13211 NE 20th St., Bellevue, including Marine Radar, Wednesday, Sept. 18; Using GPS, Wednesday, Oct. 9; Anchoring, Wednesday,Oct. 16; Mariner’s Compass, Wednesday, Oct. 23 and VHF Radio, Wednesday, Nov. 13.
