Bellevue student wins award for non-fiction article

Ciara O’Rourke of Bellevue, a student at Western Washington University, has won a third-place award in the Non-Fiction Article category of the recently announced Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) Region 10 Mark of Excellence Awards.

Ciara O’Rourke of Bellevue, a student at Western Washington University, has won a third-place award in the Non-Fiction Article category of the recently announced Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) Region 10 Mark of Excellence Awards.

O’Rourke, who graduated from International School in Bellevue, won for her story, “Baby B.” The article was published in the student-run magazine Klipsun, which is produced by the WWU Journalism Department.

O’Rourke will graduate in June from the honors program with a degree in Journalism and French. Next year she will intern at the International Herald Tribune in Paris, France.
