Bellevue Police investigate accidental shooting death

A 25-year-old man allegedly shot himself by accident at hotel with a female witness in the room.

This morning at 3:35 a.m., Bellevue police and fire responded to Hotel 116 located at 625 116th Ave. NE for a report of an accidental shooting.

When Officers arrived, they located a 25-year-old male in a hotel room with a gunshot wound to the head. The male was transported to Harborview Hospital, however he died at the hospital.

Investigators learned that the man and his acquaintance, a 24 year-old female, had rented a room at the hotel. The female acquaintance told investigators that at one point the victim began playing around with a handgun.

The female told the man to stop because she felt uncomfortable, and the man told the woman not to worry because the gun was unloaded, put the gun to his head, and pulled the trigger. The gun discharged and the woman ran to the lobby and called 911.

Police and medics arrived and attempted lifesaving efforts, however the man did not survive. Bellevue Detectives responded to the scene to investigate.
