Bellevue Police arrest man involved in fentanyl overdose death

Man who sold the deadly pills is being charged with controlled substance homicide.

Bellevue Police arrest man believed to be responsible in fentanyl related overdose death.

Twenty-four-year-old Ryuji Kawashima, was arrested on March 17 and charged with controlled substance homicide in the 2020 death of Ryan Turman.

Kawashima is believed to have sold Turman Percocet pills that were laced with the powerful opioid fentanyl.

On June 12, 2020, the night after Kawashima had sold Turman the pills, Turman was reported by his girlfriend to be unresponsive in his home. He was pronounced dead at Overlake Medical Hospital.

Toxicology reports indicated that Turman had more than enough fentanyl in his body to cause an overdose.

Kawashima’s arraignment, where he is expected to enter a plea, is scheduled for April 5.
