Bellevue resident Elise Troske-Roberts — a registered nurse for BrightStar Care of Seattle/Bellevue — was surprised to find her friends, family, colleagues and patients present when she arrived to work on March 30.
The crowd was there to congratulate her as the company recognized her as Nurse of the Year.
Troske-Roberts was nominated by Kathy Lyons as part of BrightStar Care’s nationwide call for exceptional nurses who oversee the care of aging loved ones in for families.
“Elise the Wonder Nurse always does the right thing,” Lyons stated in her nomination letter. “She serves with passion and she makes a difference. She advocates for her patients and she’s unflappable in doing so. By her example we are all challenged to work smarter, care more and be our best in service to our patients.”
Not only does Troske-Roberts have 20-plus years of experience in health care, but she is the mother of five children, she is a community theater actor currently staging Romeo and Juliet and is working on completing her course work to become a psychiatric advanced registered nurse practitioner.
